My brother recently just got two anoles and the pet store told them to get the desert sand stuff. I thought that my dad and brother had it under control so I left them alone. This morning, one died, and now Beast is sick. I realize now that I shouldn't have left it to my young brother and careless father. I looked up how that the sand can be fatal and now I'm really worried.
I fed Beast a small grasshopper (we were out of crickets and I could only find grasshoppers outside) and he managed to swallow it, and I took all the sand that was in his mouth out with a Q-tip. Then I allowed him to rinse his mouth out with some water. Is there anythign else I can do?
Please write back fast.

Well, Beast died. We're gonna bring them back to the petstore and tell them how their suggestion killed them. Hopefully they'll replace them and I'll take charge of their habitat. If you want something done right..

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you get replacements without much trouble.

Sorry to hear this. Pet stores....well...I'm not even gonna get started on them. Maybe you could refer Anole Forest to them when you go in there, so they can read up on the proper care. How someone thinks a tropical reptile needs sand is beyond me.

Dozer is correct pet stores just want to make a profit unless you find the rare sales person that knows a thing or two. Some will even say the sand contains calcium so they are not toxic but it will still kill an anole.
