Hello everyone,
I hope this post is ok in this area.
Friday evening, July 15 2005, a wild green anole got inside my outdoor A/C condensing unit and was struck by the fan blades.
Her head was cut, and she stayed mostly unconscious through Saturday. Sunday she was alert but paralyzed in her rear limbs. She drank water and ate a cricket we offered.
We took her to our general vet who observed a broken back and prescribed prednisone.
We are able to get a drop of prednisone down daily as prescribed.
Tuesday, July 19 she ate another cricket.
Everyday she eats a little peach baby food off a Q-tip.
She laps ups water off leaves in her box.
But, she refuses most of the crickets we offer, and all the worms we offer.
And, it has not had a noticable bowel movement since the accident. Today we read about soaking them, and soaked her for 15 minutes in warm water. She reacted well, but has not pooped or eaten solid food though.
She is so alert, and so tame for a wild anole that I'd like to help her any way I can.
Any ideas?

Sounds like you're doing the best you can. I always applaud people for taking good care of such small, "cheap" lizards. Just make this time of recovery as stressless as possible for her. Make sure she is in a quiet part of the house with very little movement, noise, etc. As far as food goes, you might try peach or banana baby food. Just dab a little on her mouth and see if she will lick it off. Not all Anoles like it, but it's worth a try. Good luck.

Yeah I agree. It's great to see that care given to anoles these days. There's nothing more that you can do I say. But I think that if it weren't for you it would be dead. Good job.
