Hi, a couple of days ago i noticed my anoles jaw looked kinda weird on one side like she couldnt close it on that side, almost like its not aligned right anymore, but its only on one side. I was just wondering if this means her jaw is broken and i dont know how it happened cause i dont really handle her much. I think shes still eating because the crickets in the tank are fewer but i dont really see her eating. She use to pounce on the crickets as soon as i put them in but now she just looks at them and kinda follows them around but i dont really see her eat them anymore. Do you think her jaw could be broken and if so will it heal itself?Should i be worried or is there something i can do?

hey, I don't think her jaws are broken. Especially if she's a 'she' the matter must be the lack of Calcium. Do u have an UVB and UVA light in the enclosure? Female anoles need more calcium then males, and if they don't get the right amount of it, thier jaws can become deformated or easily catch ophthalmia. Check her eyes as well! get a proper bulb, if ur light doesn't contain any UV light, which helps her producing vitamin D to adsorb Calcium, and buy some vitamin powder for reptiles as well, with a lot of calcium and vitamin D. If all the stuff is ok with the calcium and she still has the problaim, take her to the vet. the lack of appatite can be caused by a lot of other factors as well. When did she shed last time? Maybe she's gonna shed, or just simply bored with the crickets. Mine can get bored with them, and i try to give them somthing else, wax worms or mealworms for example. Or try to feed her wingles flys or something. Hope she gets better soon...

Yes, it'll go back normal after some shedding. I haven't fed any fruiteflies them yet, only big, normal flies. I breed them from the larvae form of flies, which can be bought at some petstores or fishing stores, i mean the maggots. (the maggot -the larvae- said to be too tough for the Anoles). And, if the UV light is ok, the calcium will make her jaw look normal again.

thanks so much. I got her some mealworms which she really seems to like and i put some of that calcium powder on them. Shes eating them like crazy. I just have one more question ok two. 1. How many should i feed her each day?2. At the pet store they kept the mealworms in the fridge do i have to keep them in the fridge too?

They keep the mealworms in the fridge to slow down their transformation into puppets then bugs. But if u put them into the fridge, they won't shed, and just shedded mealworms (the white ones) are the best for the anoles, because of their softer exoskeleton. So perefer white mealworms to give her. I don't know how many each is the perfect portion, i give about 3-5 worms each on every 2nd day.
